The Greater Sudbury Airport welcomes and supports both commercial and general aviation. Our GA friendly aviation fees and services make the YSB an airport destination of choice.

Landing Policies & Fees

Domestic and international flight landing fees apply to all piston, turbine and jet aircraft, registered commercially or privately, with the following exemptions:

  • "MTOW" maximum registered takeoff weight, as stated in the aircraft's registration documents.
  • Landing fees are charged for turbo-prop and jet aircraft based on the MTOW of the aircraft.
  • Training flights must be identified on initial contact with the Sudbury Flight Service Station - refunds and/or discounted fees will not be processed after the fact. No exceptions.
  • Landing fees are not payable where an aircraft or any person on board is threatened by serious or imminent danger and an unscheduled landing is made to a non-intended destination.

Please Remember:

All Air Crew must wear High Visibility Safety Vests while walking on any apron or movement areas
All pilots must be double vaccinated to enter the Greater Sudbury Airport facilities and restricted areas.

Standard Landing Fees

LANDING FEES

Effective January 1, 2023 (subject to change)

For each landing of an aircraft, the fee is the greater of the Standard Fees:

  2. "MTOW" - Maximum permissible takeoff weight, as stated in the aircraft’s registration documents.
  3. Signatory Air Carriers are those who operates on a regular weekly schedule and that operate an Air Carrier business at the Greater Sudbury Airport.
  4. Privately registered, YSB-based small aircraft weighing less than 4,000 kg will be invoiced for no more than 15 landings in any calendar year.
  5. Landing fees are not payable where an aircraft or any person on board is threatened by serious or imminent danger and an unscheduled landing is made to a non-intended destination.
  6. Training flights must be identified on initial contact with the Sudbury Flight Service Station - refunds and/or discounted fees will not be processed after the fact. No exceptions.

ANNUAL LANDING FEES – SPECIAL CASES

FLIGHT SCHOOLS

For each tenant-based flight school aircraft, the annual landing fee is as follows:

FLIGHT TRAINING

Landing Fees equal to one domestic landing per ½ hour or portion thereof.

TECHNICAL FLIGHTS

Landing Fees equal to 50% of the Current Fees.

LICENSING FLIGHTS

Exempt from Landing Fees.

  2. “MTOW”- Maximum permissible takeoff weight, as stated in the aircraft’s registration documents.
  3. Technical Flight landing fees apply to non-revenue landings of Signatory Air Carrier only. A non-revenue flight is one in which neither the inbound or outbound flight is conducted for revenue purposes, and where arrangements have been made in advance with the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation.
  4. Licensing Flights are those conducted with a Transport Canada inspector on board. Inspector number to be provided along with flight identification to CYSB Flight Service on initial contact.
  5. Tenant based aircraft by definition include aircraft owners/operators that hold a lease agreement directly with the SACDC and/or aircraft that are sub-tenants on the airport for a minimum of 12 consecutive months in the previous calendar year. However, the Greater Sudbury Airport reserves the sole right to review and to determine aircraft eligibility.

  4. The RRF does not apply to private registered aircraft.

The fee payable to support operating costs, capital improvements and the rehabilitation of assets is as follows:

Medevac, Scheduled Couriers and Tenant Commercial Operators $75.00 per Arriving Flight
Non-tenant Commercial Operators, Itinerant Aircraft and Charters not using the Air Terminal Building $5.00 per Arriving Seat
  1. Airport Facility Charge (AFC) above do not include applicable taxes.
  2. Payable by all aircraft operators for all aircraft operated as entity charters or corporate aircraft at the Greater Sudbury Airport.
  3. AFC applies to the registered seat capacity of the aircraft.
  4. AFC does not apply to private registered aircraft.

  4. Signatory Air Carriers are those who operate on a regular weekly schedule and that operates an Air Carrier business at the Greater Sudbury Airport.

  3. Aircraft parking charges are per 24-hour period or part thereof and apply after one (1) hour to aircraft on designated Greater Sudbury Airport aircraft parking positions and surfaces.
  4. If the accumulated daily fees in one month exceed the monthly fee, the monthly fee applies.
  5. Prior permission for long-term parking of out-of-service aircraft required from the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation.
  6. Aircraft parking fees exclude Signatory Carriers using the Main Terminal Building Apron – Special permission and rates apply to aircraft parking on the Main Terminal Building Apron.

Customs clearance is available through the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) by pre-arranged booking for general aviation, unscheduled aircraft with 15 people or less (including crew).

Aircraft Parking + Storage

At the Greater Sudbury Airport, we have many options when it comes to parking and storing your aircraft.

Aircraft Rental Parking

Tie down rental parking spaces are available for general aviation customers. Please note that space is limited and customers will be accommodated on a first come, first serve basis.

Please complete an application form and submit according to the instructions.

T-Hangar Storage

Fully serviced (heat, hydro & water) T-hangar units with executive pilot lounge access are available for lease. The units are built on concrete slab and have bi-fold door systems (door sizes may vary per unit). Please contact our business development team for sizing and pricing.
