About the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation

The Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation that manages the Greater Sudbury Airport (YSB). The Greater Sudbury Airport is one of Northern Ontario's busiest and is currently served by Air Canada, Bearskin Airlines, Porter Airlines and Sunwing Airlines. Air Canada offers daily flights to and from Toronto's Pearson International Airport, which provides worldwide connections, while Porter Airlines offers daily service to and from downtown’s Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, which connects passengers to various Canadian and U.S. destinations. Regular scheduled flights provided by Bearskin Airlines offer air service to and from many Northeastern Ontario centres. Sunwing Airlines offers flights from Greater Sudbury to various sun destinations from November to April.

Our Leadership

Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation

The Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation (SACDC) was formed and assumed ownership and governance of the airport following the transfer of the facility from Transport Canada under the National Airport`s Policy on March 31st, 2000. An eleven (11) member Board of Directors oversees the affairs of the airport. The SACDC operates as an independent, financially self-sustainable Corporation that does not receive financial assistance from the municipal tax base.

The composition of the Board includes; two (2) City of Greater Sudbury Councillors, two (2) appointments from the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) and seven (7) citizens.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

  • Oversee the development and approval of the Strategic Plan
  • Define and safeguard the SACDC organizational mission, values and operating principles
  • Governance of the corporation through policies and planning objectives
  • Select and support a Chief Executive Officer to who the executive leadership is delegated
  • Secure sufficient resources to finance SACDC programs and operations
