Greater Sudbury Airport Tours....where your education takes off !!!!
Have you always wanted a behind-the-scenes look at the Greater Sudbury Airport? You don't need a plane ticket to get to know the airport better! Our airport tours will put you at the heart of the action. Many people find airports fascinating, and the Greater Sudbury Airport is no exception. That's why we've created an Airport Tour Program. It has been designed primarily to educate the youth of our community, but we have found it to be quite popular with explorers of all ages. This tour is interesting, informative and fully guided.
The program provides the opportunity to explore airport facilities and services and experience the daily operations of the airport, its tenants and airlines. Groups will visit the airline ticket counter areas, the security checkpoints, flight display monitors, rental car areas, baggage carousels. The last stop on the tour is the Airport Emergency Services Facility which will explore the unique equipment used to keep your airport runways safe. While visiting this facility, you'll also be able to view the planes taking off and landing.
The tours are offered completely FREE of charge and can be requested in French or English. Participants will receive fun handouts after the Tour.
• For safety reasons, children must be a minimum of 5 years of age for tour participation, and the tour is appropriate for children up to 12 years of age

Things to know before your arrival:
For private vehicles, parking is available for a fee. Please review the parking section of our website for accurate rates. If you're arriving on a school bus, please drop off the children in front of the main terminal and have the bus park along Aviation Road.
Teachers must report to the Information Kiosk where they will be met by their tour guide. For security purposes we recommend that students leave their backpacks at school, on the bus, or in a private vehicle to prevent entry delays at security screening points. Students will be escorted to various secure airport areas to observe aviation operations.
Restrooms are available inside the Airport terminal building.
Teachers and students are welcome to sit in our grass and picnic table area with prior reservations to watch aircraft take-offs and landings and have lunch; however are requested to keep the area litter free; garbage bins are closely positioned in the area. The airport also has a restaurant, Sky Vue, located on the second floor of the Terminal Building where visitors may sit and order lunch after the tour. Please keep in mind that the restaurant is for paying customers only. Catering can be provided if desired, at an additional cost to the organization or school.
You are welcome to take photos throughout the course of the tour; however photographing security checkpoints is restricted. Your tour guide will advise when located at one of these checkpoints.
While the Greater Sudbury Airport has established this program because it places great importance on educating children about airport operations, it also has an obligation to meet safety regulations and respect the travellers that are passing through the facility. We ask that chaperones explain the importance of strictly following the directions of the tour guide prior to arrival at the airport and wish to advise that the tour guide reserves the right to deny admission to, or request the departure of any unruly participants.
Safety & Security Rules
Chaperones and children are advised to comply and adhere to all security and safety signage at the airport along with instructions from the airport tour guide.
Departure / End of tour
Students must proceed in an orderly manner to the bus or vehicle and walk on designated pedestrian walkways to avoid any congestion or accidents.
The MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) also offers tours on a weekly basis. To arrange a visit please contact Lindsay Munroe at 705-564-6028.
